Al Clark grew up in Azusa, graduated from Cal Poly, Pomona, and received his M.A. and Ph.D. in European History from the University of California, Berkeley. He has actively researched the history of the eastern San Gabriel Valley since writing his senior thesis for Glendora’s Don Pflueger in 1968. He has been an administrator and faculty member at the University of La Verne for over forty years and at present is Professor of Humanities and the university’s advisor for study abroad, The Washington Center, and scholarships. Some of his publications are “The San Gabriel River: A Century of Dividing the Waters” in the Southern California Quarterly, and the book, "Citrus Speaks: A Celebration of the Life of an Enduring Institution in the Words of Its Alumni, Faculty, and Friends, on Citrus College.
