In the middle ground right is the trunk and underbrush of a guava tree. Background of a bue and red hammock on the left, a lemon tree center with some yellow lemons on it. To the righ, behind the guava tree is a metal rusted ladder leaning against a corrugated tin water tank. THe red roofs of the packing buildings are visible to the left beyond the windmil and water tower foundations.Palm tree sprouts taking over the Castle grounds due to the heavy rains this year. Pulling them at this size is much easier than later. Time is of the essence!

Gardening Day Project: Palm Tree Sprout Weeding

This past winter season brought lots of rain which encouraged palm trees to produce excess seeds.  This year the Castle has more palm sprouts than we've ever seen!  Luckily, they are at the perfect height to easily pull out, but because of the large amount of palm sprouts, we need many helping hands.

What do I bring?

  • Potluck item (Something semi-healthy. No donuts please.)
  • hat
  • gloves
  • sunscreen
  • water bottle
  • closed-toe shoes
  • Kneeler or a short stool (helpful to sit on while weeding)

RSVP is requested. All participants will be required to sign a liability waiver form. Children 8 years or older are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult who will work with them. Please let us know you are coming by registering for this event.
